How much does a starlight headliner cost in Brampton?

Short answer

At Puri Heritage, starlight headliners are quoted per vehicle — tell us your car and you'll have a real price within the hour. The number moves with star count (400 vs 800+ fibres), shooting stars, and whether you add ambient lighting. Installs take one to two days, and the headliner comes out for proper bench work.

What a starlight headliner actually is

It's a fibre-optic roof. Hundreds of tiny fibre-optic strands are threaded through the headliner fabric from behind, each one terminating flush at the surface as a pinprick of light. All the strands feed into a small LED light engine hidden above the headliner, which is what actually glows — the fibres are just light pipes. Colour and brightness are controlled from your phone: classic white starlight, a colour wash, or subtle dimming for highway night driving.

Interior lighting is the single biggest change you can make to how a car feels at night. Everything else on the outside of the car is for other people; the roof is for you, every single drive. That's why starlight headliners are one of the most-requested installs we do at our Brampton and Etobicoke shops. See the full service: starlight headliners & ambient lighting.

What you'll actually pay

Here's the honest version: starlight headliner pricing is quoted per vehicle, not off a flat menu. Any shop that gives you one number for every car is either padding it for the hard installs or planning to cut corners on yours. What we can tell you is exactly what the number depends on, and how to get your real price fast — call 647-577-7300 with your vehicle and we'll come back with a real number within the hour, before any work starts.

As a rule of thumb: a basic install on a standard sedan costs less than a full-sky, 800+ fibre install with shooting stars on a large SUV or truck, because there is more roof to cover, more fibres to lay, and more labour to do it cleanly. If a quote seems unusually cheap, ask how they install it (more on that below) — the method matters more than the number.

What changes the price

  • Star count. The biggest lever. A subtle scattering of a few hundred fibres costs less than a full night-sky of 800 or more. More fibres means more strands to thread, trim and terminate, and a brighter, denser effect. Decide how bold you want it — subtle looks classy, full sky looks dramatic.
  • Shooting stars. An optional effect where selected strands are grouped and pulsed so light streaks across the roof like a meteor. It's an add-on to the base install and adds both parts and programming time.
  • Ambient lighting pairing. Starlight in the roof plus RGB ambient lighting through the footwells, door cards and dash trim is the most common combination we install. Bundling both in one visit is more efficient than booking two separate installs — the car is already apart.
  • Vehicle size and headliner complexity. A coupe roof is a quick job. A three-row SUV or a truck with a large, sculpted headliner takes meaningfully longer — more surface, more fibres, more careful reinstallation.
  • Component tier. Higher-output LED engines with cleaner colour mixing and smoother app control cost more than basic single-colour units. Premium options are available as in-store upgrades — we'll walk you through the options and what each costs when your car is in front of us.

How the install works

This is the part that separates a factory-looking job from a regret. The correct method: the headliner comes out of the car entirely, the fibres are laid in on the bench with the headliner fabric face-down, and then the whole unit goes back in. Done this way, the fibres pass through from behind and the finished surface looks untouched — you see light, not holes.

The shortcut method some shops use is poking fibres through the headliner in place, without removing it. It's faster and cheaper, and it shows: uneven density, visible punctures, fibres that work loose over time. When you're comparing quotes, ask one question — "do you remove the headliner?" — and the answer tells you everything about what you're buying.

Plan on leaving the car for one to two days. Wiring for the LED engine is tucked above the headliner and tied into the car's electricals properly, so the stars run when you want them to and everything else in the car behaves exactly as it did before.

Starlight + ambient lighting: the combo

If you're opening up the interior anyway, the natural pairing is ambient lighting: RGB strips through the footwells, door cards and dash trim, all app controlled alongside the roof. The roof does the drama; the ambient lighting does the mood around the cabin. Most of our starlight customers add it, because a glowing roof over a dark cabin looks half-finished by comparison.

Same logic applies to other interior work. A hardwired dashcam hides its wiring behind the same headliner and trim panels — if a dashcam is on your list at all, doing it in the same visit saves a second teardown.

Will it damage my headliner?

No — when it's done the bench way. The strands are hair-thin and pass through from the back; the visible surface is undisturbed, and the headliner goes back in on its original clips and fasteners. Rattles and sagging headliners come from rushed reinstalls, which is another reason the installer's method matters more than their price.

One thing worth knowing: this is a modification to the interior, so if your car is under a factory bumper-to-bumper warranty, ask your dealer how they treat aftermarket interior electrical work before booking. Most daily drivers outside warranty never think about it twice.

How long it lasts

Fibre-optic strands don't burn out — there's nothing to burn out at the tip; the light source is the LED engine. The engine itself is a solid-state unit with a long service life, and if it ever needs replacement it's a small box above the headliner, not a re-do of the whole roof. Treat it like any interior trim: keep the headliner clean, don't snag the fibres, and the effect looks the same in year five as day one.

Where to get it done

We install starlight headliners and ambient lighting at all three shops — Rosedale (Brampton), Veterans (Brampton) and Malton (Etobicoke) — with free quotes and same-week appointments most weeks. Bring the car by and we'll walk you through star densities in person, because photos don't do the difference between 400 and 800 fibres justice.

Questions

Frequently asked

How much is a starlight headliner in Brampton?

Quoted per vehicle — star count, shooting stars, and vehicle size move the number. Call 647-577-7300 with your car and you'll have a real price within the hour.

How long does installation take?

Usually one to two days. The headliner comes out, the fibres are laid in on the bench, and it goes back in — which is why it looks factory rather than poked through.

Will it damage my headliner?

No. Done properly, the strands pass through from behind and the finished surface looks untouched. Ask any installer one question: "do you remove the headliner?"

Can I control the stars from my phone?

Yes — colour and brightness are app controlled, so you can switch from white starlight to colour washes without touching anything in the car.

What are shooting stars?

An optional effect where selected strands pulse so light streaks across the roof like a meteor. It's an add-on to the base starlight install.

Can I combine it with ambient lighting?

Yes — starlight in the roof plus RGB ambient lighting through footwells, doors and dash is the most common pairing, all app controlled, done in one install.
